Do I need Apple Music? +

Yes. Earpin currently uses Apple Music as its playback source. You need an active Apple Music subscription to stream audio dramas. Earpin itself is not a streaming service; the app solely tracks your progress.

Earpin currently supports Apple Music only. Write to us at support@earpin.app if you would like to see support for other services.

How do I set up Earpin? +

After installation:

  • Open the app → select "Apple Music"
  • Confirm the iOS permission "Earpin would like to access Apple Music"
  • In the Library tab, add artists with your audio series
  • Earpin will now track your progress as soon as you listen in Apple Music
What permissions does Earpin require? +

Earpin only requires read access to Apple Music ("Media & Apple Music" in the iOS Settings). The app reads which track is currently playing and at what position. Nothing more.

Earpin starts or pauses playback only when you explicitly request it, via the resume function or the player controls in the app.

You can revoke the permission at any time under Settings → Earpin → Media & Apple Music.

My progress is not being saved. What should I do? +

Common causes:

  • Trial has ended: After the 7 days, Earpin picks progress up again only once you have unlocked the app. Progress recorded so far stays visible.
  • Missing permission: Check under Settings → Earpin → Media & Apple Music whether Earpin has access.
  • Apple Music running in the background: Earpin reads the playback status automatically. Make sure a track is actively playing in Apple Music.
  • Album not in the library: Earpin only tracks albums from artists you have added to the library.
  • Internet connection: An active connection is required for cross-device sync via iCloud. Progress is stored locally and synced automatically once you are back online.

If the problem persists, write to us at support@earpin.app.

Does sync work across multiple devices? +

Yes. Your progress is synced via your personal iCloud and available on all devices signed in with the same Apple ID. No account with us is required. Earpin does not operate any servers of its own. Syncing needs an active trial or a purchase; after that it pauses until you unlock Earpin.

How does automatic series detection work? +

Earpin analyses album and track names for episode numbers (e.g. "Episode 77", "Part 3", "Volume 12") and arranges them in the correct order. For well-known audio drama series, hand-crafted rules are stored.

Detection runs entirely locally on your device.

An album is displayed in the wrong order. +

For unknown series, automatic number detection can fail if album titles do not contain standardised episode information. Please report such cases to support@earpin.app with the name of the series, and we will add it to our hand-curated detection list.

How much does Earpin cost? +

You can try Earpin for 7 days free of charge, without entering any payment details. After that you unlock the app either with a subscription (monthly or yearly) or with a one-time purchase. The current prices are shown in the App Store and in the app before you buy. Everything is handled through your Apple ID.

What happens when the trial ends? +

After the 7 days you need a purchase to keep using Earpin. Your existing data stays visible. Progress, notes and library are neither deleted nor locked.

How do I cancel my subscription? +

Via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Earpin, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can keep using the app until that period is over. The one-time purchase never expires and needs no cancellation.

New device, or reinstalled the app: do I have to pay again? +

No. Tap “Restore purchases” in the app. The purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to the device.

Is my data shared or sold? +

No. Earpin does not share any data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not use analytics SDKs and do not engage in tracking.

All data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud. Earpin does not operate any servers of its own. Details in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete all my data? +

In the app: Settings → Delete All Data. All data (progress, listening time, library) is deleted immediately and irreversibly, on your device and in your iCloud.

Local app data (cache, settings) is automatically removed when you uninstall the app.

“Delete all data” resets neither the trial nor a purchase.

Earpin cannot connect to Apple Music. +

Possible causes:

  • Permission not granted: Settings → Earpin → Media & Apple Music → enable
  • No active Apple Music subscription
  • Apple Music app not installed or not up to date
  • Internet connection interrupted

If none of the above applies, write to us: support@earpin.app

Does Earpin support Spotify? +

No. Earpin currently supports Apple Music only.

iOS offers an official, stable API for Apple Music that enables gapless progress tracking. Spotify, by contrast, heavily restricts companion apps: without an elaborate approval process, only a handful of test users are allowed. We are therefore not actively pursuing Spotify support at the moment.

If that changes, we'll announce it on earpin.app.

I only listen on Spotify. What can I do? +

Most audio dramas are available on both Apple Music and Spotify.

An Apple Music trial (3 months free for new customers) is enough to try Earpin.

Will other services like Deezer, Amazon Music or YouTube Music be supported? +

That depends on the APIs each platform offers. Earpin's core feature, second-accurate position tracking, requires an official interface that delivers the current playback status in real time.

Apple Music is currently the only platform with a stable, officially supported way to do this. Other services will be evaluated as soon as suitable APIs become available.
